I’ve been dealing with this situation for a long time and have just reached another–the final–breaking point. I recently got accepted to a creative arts university in Chicago, which would be a good thing if I had been prepared for all the fees that are hundreds of dollars. I’ve actually managed to convince enough family members to help enough that I can register for the mandatory payment plan, but I’m honestly giving up on the idea of attending school because of how much I need to pay in such a short time.
However, I’m still desperate to move to Chicago and away from my abusive family–particularly my mother. She’s adamant about keeping me under her thumb and has recently let me know that she plans to “keep an eye on me” even after she moves with my siblings to another state. My mother knows I’m struggling with mental health issues and she’s very aware of how narcolepsy disables me (leaving me financially reliant on her most of the time). Along with her stalking me and just going out of her way to chip at my mental stability, now she’s showing up at my apartment randomly to threaten me with things like arranged marriage, forcing me to live with her again, etc.

I need to be independent and I’m working on that despite my disability but some things are just out of my control and it’s terrifying. My goal is to get as close to $500 as possible, depending on when/if I reach this amount it’ll be for my university’s housing payment or going straight to my runaway fund so I can leave as soon as I see an opportunity.
