i’ll toss my coin into the hat here bc i’m me so! i’ve seen the miseducation of cameron post movie, and yes, it is definitely not a movie for everyone. a lot of people won’t be able to watch it, and that’s fine!
but if you can watch, or if you can support it (reblogging posts abt it, etc) i encourage you to do so! the story isn’t an endless line of tragedy like a lot of posts are making it out to be – yes, it’s heavy and awful and bad, but a large aspect of the movie is that it balances acknowledging serious issues with making fun of aspects of those issues. like, i spent most of this movie either laughing or crying happy tears. it talks a lot about finding community and friends within lgbt+ groups; one of the main characters is explicitly two-spirited, which is rare in itself. and yes, chloe is straight, but the supporting cast is largely lgbt+!
be careful with it, of course, but keep in mind that this movie is a bi director making fun of homophobic beliefs, not a straight director making a mockery of lgbt+ struggles
